Recently, during a fundraising event in Fort Portal, Muhenda emphasised the urgent need for a strategic shift in leadership to revitalize the region’s tourism sector and infrastructure. Despite Fort Portal’s strategic location and access to a wealth of natural resources and unique attractions, such as snow-capped peaks, volcanic crater lakes, and renowned national parks, the recent 2024/2025 budget failed to recognise its potential as a significant income generator, leaving it underfunded and overlooked.

He also advocated for the creation of digital platforms and promotional materials to market Fort Portal’s tourism offerings more effectively.
He urged regional leaders to collaborate with government agencies and push for funding to improve tourism infrastructure and marketing. With proactive and innovative leadership, Muhenda believes Fort Portal can transform into a premier global tourism destination, benefiting the local economy and the broader region due to its diverse attractions.
Additionally, Muhenda pointed out the need for upgrades to healthcare facilities, such as the Buhinga Referral Hospital, and improvements to transportation infrastructure, including the modernisation of Saaka Airstrip, to attract and accommodate tourists.
